I ask because I heard a [former baptist who became ] catholic speculate that millions leave and join the catholics everyday. He stated that most who leave were never up on their faith and those who join have done their homework.

I think that's probably the standard answer for all religions. No one wants to be the one on the other end of it.

The kind that join are the kind like me, that didn't do enough research before signing their souls away.
The kind that leave are the kind like all of us that for "x" reason left after doing said research.
