    Satunus

    the intro says.

    '' It is the contention of this writer that for the first time in history there is a viable movement

    - The New Age Movement - that truly meets all the scriptural requirements for the antchrist and the political movement

    that will bring him on the world scene.

    ''It is further the position of the writer that this most likely is the great apostacy or 'falling away' spoken of by the Apostle Paul and that the antichrist's appearance could be a very real event in our immediate future''

    Constance E. Cumbrey.

    She then quotes Rev 18v1-5 (KJV)

    ''... Babylon the Great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

    ''For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.

    ''And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye not be partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

    Preface

    millions around the globe awoke to a great surprise on april 25th 1982.

    They opened their newspapers only to be greeted with full-page display ads brazenly proclaiming

    THE WORLD HAS HAD ENOUGH... OF HUNGER, INJUSTICE, WAR. IN ANSWER TO OUR CALL FOR HELP, AS WORLD TEACHER FOR ALL HUMANITY,

    ''THE CHRIST IS NOW HERE''

    ....

    __________

    Throughout history, humanity's evolution has been guided by a group of enlightened men, the Masters of Wisdom.

    They have remained largely in the remote desert and mountain places of earth, working mainly through their disciples who live openly in the world.

    This message of the christs's reappearance has been given primarily by such a disciple trained for his task for over 20yrs.

    At the centre of this ''Spiritual Hierarchy'' stands the World Teacher, LORD MAITREYA.

    .....

    His presence in the world guarantees there will be no third world war.

    ___________

    My task will be to show you how to live together peacefully as brothers. This is simpler than you imagine, My friends, for it requires only the acceptance of sharing.

    ''How can you be content with the models within which you now live:

    when millions starve and die in squalor;

    when the rich parade their wealth before the poor;

    when each man is his neighbours enemy;

    when no man trusts his brother?

    ''Allow me to show you the way forward into a simpler life where no man lacks;

    when no two days are alike;

    where the joy of brotherhood manifests through all men.

    ___________

    He has not yet declared His true status, and His location is known to only a very few disciples.

    One of these has announced that soon the Christ will acknowledge his identity and within the next 2 months will speak to humanity through a worldwide television and radio broadcast.

    His message will be heard inwardly, telepathically, by all people in their own language. From that time with His help, we will build a new world.

    WITHOUT SHARING THERE CAN BE NO JUSTICE;

    WITHOUT JUSTICE THERE CAN BE NO PEACE;

    WITHOUT PEACE THERE CAN BE NO FUTURE.

    The ads went on to list 4 information cnetres strategically scattered about the globe:

    Amsterdam,London, New York City and North Hollywood, California.

    Cool, lost.

    It sounds a bit like a socialist manifesto. Some people do believe that, when people realize the failures inherent in unfettered capitalism, that socialism will be the next wave. It could be. I'm not seer.

    ' It is the contention of this writer that for the first time in history there is a viable movement

    - The New Age Movement - that truly meets all the scriptural requirements for the antchrist and the political movement that will bring him on the world scene.'

    Some christians tend to fearmonger. I think that that is what this is. There is no lord maitreya. Its a made up fear, imo. Not that there might not be some truth behind this. But, that is practically another discussion. My own views have been called new age, so that may be why this doesn't strike any fear for me. Thanks for putting this up. Maybe, other comments will bring in deeper analyses.

    Don't know to much about new age movement, or the age of aquarius, but, there is a lot in history connecting a lot of things together.

    it will be an interesting read. it was written in 1983, so we could be 'in the last days'' now, lol.

    You should watch your back around newage people. They talk love and light, but when they turn on you they are most vicious.

    In my case, I provoked it by pointing out there was nothing new in their snake oil, that it was warmed over theosophy such as peddled by Helena Blavatsky, who repackaged Hinduism for westerers.

    A couple of my views are also contained in hinduism. People that know me, know that i swear too much to be a new ager;)

    As Kurtbethel said, this is rehashed theosophy. Blavatsky and her cronies originally stole a young Indian boy called Jiddu Krishnamurti and forced him to be maitreya. He was deeply depressed and finally got up at one of their events and basically said "There are no gods, no gurus just be responsible for yourselves" and he quit (interestingly JK went on to be a guru LOL).

    Quite sad that we as humans have not moved on from looking outside for answers and salvation.

    Let's see....

    A religion that teaches the end of all suffering

    A religion that says a leader will come down and save us all

    A religion that says a new world will come with peace and plenty. Sound familiar?

    Yeah I'll buy that. Where do I sign?

    THE BOOK.

    it's a book, if you haven't read it, how can you even comment on what's in it ?

    Satunus, how about the $500,000 newspapers ads, lot of money.

    I commented on the intro that you pasted. I have some background in christianity, 2 yrs, and apparently new age, now, one of the barbarians, one of the antichrists, according to cumbrey.

    Ohhhh Madame Blavatsky!! Damn I love my Big Bookstore experience, even if I hate the notion of The Big Bookstore. I was in charge of the most awesome section. History, Religion, Cultural Studies, and New Age!

    S - sorry, that wasn't directed at you, lol.

    Seeing as we are trying to discuss the 'subject'. It's great to be able to chat about all these 'new things' without jehovists blinders on.
