To the extent that I no longer have a fear of god or of death I am an Epicurean. I also like the concept of finding static satisfaction because of the pleasure of life. A life without pain would be good too, but like Terry Wogan (You'll know him if you are a Brit) I am ,"never without pain".
We used to have a range of foodstuffs here in the U.K marketed under the name Epicure, they made some fine pickled onions I recall.
Epicurus wrote around 307bce. His philosphy is found in the book of Ecclesiastes written 935 Bce.
Ever since I have read the bible cover to cover I eat drink and be merry for tomorrow I may die just
like Solomon said in 935bce and Epicurus nicked in 307 Bce.
I think the JW's talk against eating drinking and being merry. But the JW's are against a lot of biblical
teachings.
Epicureans do NOT believe in a philosophy of "eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we are to die" . Did you read the Wikipaedia article at all?
