i always wondered about this. it seems the bar was alot lower in ancient israel. all they had to do do was take the sabbath off to learn about Jehovah and teach their children the same. give the high priest an animal to sacrifice, have him over for dinner once a year, take the family camping for the festival of booths, etc. if they did this, both the nation and as individuals would be blessed materially. now fast forward to the first century christians. it involved a life of sacrifice, endurance, persecution, and more often than not at the end of the day you would be executed for your faithfulness. they say Jehovah's standards don't change but obviously it did to be considered a faithful servant.

If you are talking about real Christianity, I would say it's much easier to trust that Jesus has already done enough.

This is because joke-hova was friends only to the Jews back in those days. If you were a Jew in the nation of Israel, and you were faithful, you only had to follow those taking the lead. Of course, the Pharisees exploited that by creating multitudes of laws (which is the part of Judaism the washtowel emulates so nicely).
These days, xians are supposed to be living without direct access to joke-hova. This is attributed to the Gentile Times (yea right, joke-hova, go ahead and blame the Gentiles and poor Satan, when it's your own damn fault). These days, we are supposedly aliens in Satan's world. (Again, poor Satan taking blame where not deserved.) Throw in some Pharisaic witless rules, and you add even worse problems than what is in the LIE-ble itself. Limits on employment, Worldwide Pedophile Defense Fund donations, wasted gas and car wear and tear on field circus, and wasting most of the day doing field circus adds much to the burden. Which was not there in ancient Israel--the rank and file Jew didn't have to spend time declaring the message to all the Gentiles (instead, the prominent ones--Tyrant David for instance, only murdered them).
And both groups have it hard compared to what would have happened had Satan been allowed to dominate without joke-hova interfering. Had Satan been given the chance, He would have had us all reaching Godhood. We would have challenges--learning to meditate properly, developing our souls, and using our powers (which joke-hova sealed up in us, making this extra difficult for most of us) to get what we needed out of life. But, once we mastered it, we would have it super easy. Instead of toiling for nothing, we would be able to use our psychic powers and get what we wanted and needed. Hardship would be the only thing in short supply. Now, thanks to joke-hova, we do not have that condition--hardship is the only thing in abundant supply.
