    Hi guys

I'm trying to broaden my horizons a little by learning about other cults. I've spent the past couple of weeks reading up on Scientology (with the help of the excellent book "Going Clear" by Lawrence Wright), and this morning I found a fascinating BBC film on YouTube about the Exclusive Brethren.

There are only about 1 million Exclusive Brethren around the world (mostly focussed in the UK, North America, New Zealand and Australia), but their cult-like attributes are shockingly similar to those of the JWs. They abhor higher education (believing it to be a snare of Satan), demonize the internet, and believe in the "withdrawal" (or disfellowshipping) of wayward believers, even from family members.

    Here is the video...

It's remarkable to note the same harmful attributes repeated in cults other than JWs with the same devastating results time and again.

    From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Behind_the_Exclusive_Brethren

"Behind the Exclusive Brethren: Politics Persuasion and Persecution is a non-fiction book by journalist and author Michael Bachelard about the group Exclusive Brethren, focusing on the sect in Australia"

Michael spoke at the 2010 CIFS cult conference at Parliament house in Brisbane and the Exclusive Brethren sent an attorney to listen/intimidate. Michael spoke quite fearlessly and pointed out the attorney's presence.
