Can anyone out there in cyberland explain how a woman being raped by her dentist (becoming pregnant in the process), and then the "elders" of her congregation disefellowshipping her for (I would imagine fornication & lying about it), how this can be seen as refinement????

if a person gets a disease (say cancer) whatever, and then they go through hell but they beat it...I can at least see how this could be seen as refining, because then the person may appreciate their family more, appreciate friends, everything in life that is good more, and then becomes a better person because of it.

But how the hell does a woman being put through the situation mentioned, how can that possibly be seen as refinement? refinement for what? to be refined in remembering that the people telling you that god speaks directly to them are lying to you? to help remind you not to take everything that is said from the GB seriously?

please i'm not trying to be sarcastic, if someone knows, i really would also like to know also.

It fits with--hmm, was it Billy the Ex-Bethelite, who quoted someone as saying 'half of JWs are here to test the other half'? So the idea is that half of them torture, abuse, and shun you, and you're supposed to endure it all as proof of your loyalty to God, which will surely be rewarded in some vague future way in some vague future time.

I hate to spoil their fun, but I do believe there is a scripture that says, paraphrasing--god cannot be charged with evil. i've heard numerous talks that go into great detail as to the definition of "evil", and these definitions (in these talks) would be 100% in line with what that woman suffered through, they would define this as evil. so we have established the definition of evil, and we have also established that god cannot be charged with evil.....but the body of elders who are directly carrying the holy spirit --commit evil. can't have your cake and eat it too, sorry guys.

    Here:

James 1:13 - "for with evil things god cannot be tried nor he himself try anyone"

NOR HE HIMSELF TRY ANYONE????? HELLO?

    NOR HE HIMSELF TRY ANYONE.

    EVIL:

    2.

    harmful; injurious: evil laws.

    3.

characterized or accompanied by misfortune or suffering; unfortunate; disastrous: to be fallen on evil days.

    4.

due to actual or imputed bad conduct or character: an evil reputation.

Cross examination please. Oh sorry the defense rests? next.
