God, Kurzweil and The Last Question

Over at the singularity hub, there's news that Kurzweil is teaming up with Google to try to produce a vast "Watson" -like artificial intelligence.

Imagine a Google source that could tie together seemingly unrelated facts from every willing database or library on earth.

There's an old sci-fi story about this idea - "The Last Question" by Issac Asimov.

It considers the future in which such a computer is asked, "Is there a God?" and gets the reply, "There is now!".

I think there's a lot of truth in that vision of our future.

I post articles/links such as the above because, while I enjoy the information presented on this site as leading to Watchtower demise, I also foresee that a whole lot of other things could emerge in the near future that will take them down - as well as make our lives better.
