JW's and New Years Eve

So I thought that JWs weren't supposed to celebrate "wordly holidays?" I saw on FB my uber elder cousin and his wife and daughter at a big New Year's Eve party with many other JW's ringing in the New Year! How do they justify that?

I got so tired (like every year) being asked "Do you have 'new year'?" I began answering saying "No Im sticking with 1993".
Do I celebrate it I would like to as the city council puts on a fantastic fireworks display. But no as i was working the 31st and have to be at work on the 1st, at 0630 I am therefore too bloody tired i didnt celebrate.
