My neighbor invited me and my family to Christmas services at his nondenominational church when I was shoveling fresh snow from the driveway this morning. He knows my situation. I told him all about the cult. He’s the neighbor I took my son trick-or-treating with- with his kids.

I chuckled and said “No thank you. I wasted 28 years on god.I don't think he noticed. I don’t plan on wasting anymore time with him.” He laughed and said “I’ll see you latter.”

He's a good guy. He has invited me to other services before.

A woman I know invited me to Christmas Eve services a year after I left JWs. She told me it was a beautiful service. I had an immediate visceral reaction of revulsion at the idea of anything to do with God or religion. I think she was offended. Unless you've been a Dub, you don't get it.

yup. I don't think I offended him. At least I didn't intend to.

In my christian phase, i went to a christmas church service. It was mainly kids singing. I enjoyed it. I would recommend even atheists try it one time, just for the experience.

I like it when people invite me. The tone of the invitation is important. If it just to be part a community, I love it. If the intent is to convert me, I do find it repulsive.

I also love being invited and attending Seders.

One of my closest friends in high school and college was Chinese. I loved being invited to get free food in Chinatown for Sun Yat Sen's birthday and for Chinese New Year.

    I love celebrations.
