Joan Teasley was taking her three great-grandchildren to school Wednesday morning when an accident in Crystal Springs claimed all four lives.
Teasley, identified by Mississippi Highway Patrol as Anita but known to her friends as Joan, was 67 years old.
She and her great-grandchildren Gavin Tompkins, 6, Gunner Tompkins, 3, and Makenna Teasley, 15 months, were all pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash occurred around 8 a.m. on Mississippi 27 and Lee Avenue, the Copiah County Sheriff's Department said.
Friends of the family said the children's mother, Rebecca Teasley, adored her children. Among her Facebook pictures was a child's drawing of a mother and two children in a heart, with "I love my maam" written above it. Another picture said, "My greatest blessings call me Mom."
Rebecca Teasley had just lost her job at an auto dealership a week ago. Some area businesses, including Louise's Barbecue and Wilson's Meat House, are setting out money jugs to take up donations to help her wit
