Jw pro: Easily established network of mutual friends Con: easily established network of sociopathic busybodies, JW con bedroom laws and one sex position allowed Worldly Pro: positions in bedroom are only contained by the physical laws of nature

JW marriage: Forced to feel guilty about masturbation and so you marry the first thing that's bigger and prettier than your hand and usually before the age of 20.

JW marriage pro: A common authority in the Bible.

JW marriage con: Marry so young that as you develop as an adult you grow in different directions and end up hating each other.

"Worldly" marriage: I'll let you know when I've tried it.

Any benefit ends up being a double-edged sword, but here goes, from a man's perspective:

Pro JW wife: If she's a born-in, you can pretty much assume she's not been promiscuous in a past life. You can also pretty much assume she does not have an illicit drug past. Most likely no tatoos. She's fairly content with a humble life, and therefore not greedy or too materialistic.

Con JW wife: If she's born-in or converted just the same, you have to assume she's prone to depression simply because the religion causes it, and you won't be able to do anything outside of JW land to help her. Having a humble education, the conversation with her will be limited to JW interests. Having put Jehovah first in her life, coupled with the contentment of a humble life (lack of ambition) she will not be a rock star at anything secular.

Cheesh! Have you people actually been inside a J W family, or do you just read the books?

"Sisters" in the cong. may pay outward lip service to the concept of subjection but in reality, in my experience, all that finishes when the come home from the Hall. Take it from one who knows - they are just as likely to vie for supremacy and get their own way by one means or another, than anybody else

"Contentment?" why do you think that elders and Min Servants burn out trying to work long hours as well as their cong. duties? It is the wives who want the best home they can and push them to get it..

The veneer of dubdom is very thin ....

Although the above statement is not true, the same could be said of the JW husband.

Any marriage can be great or fail. Religion can be a factor in stability or instability. The parties involved make a difference individually. What are you each willing to give, or give up. Are there children? That is a factor. This is an interesting question. I don't believe there are any more pros to being a dub than being any other type of person. Here are some cons:

    1) Married too young because you believe that you will never get old.

    2) Believing things won't get boring because the end is soon.

    3) Not having enough education and struggling to support your family because you believe the end is soon.

    4) Never really being there for eachother 100% because you are devoted to a religion that teaches the end is coming soon.

    5) Neither party knowing who they are because they never found out, because they did not experience life because the end is coming soon.

    6) For some never knowing the joy of children because you are devoted to a works based faith that teaches the end is coming soon.

    7) The sadness of not even being able to confide in your mate because they are devoted to a religion that teaches the end is coming soon.

    8) Having your mate trust outsiders ( Elders/CO/DO/GB ) more than they trust you because these men say the end is coming soon.

    9) Having outsiders support the uncriptural view of " absolute spiritual endangerment " as grounds for separation. Having you mate, if female, attempt to take over as the spiritual head of the household because you no longer believe the lies. Knowing the Elders are ready to fully support whatever decision they make, enabling their victim role, allowing them to destroy your marriage, all because you no longer believe that the end is coming soon.
