National Novel Writing Month. The goal is to write 50,000 words in thirty days. I made it two years ago, not last year. We'll see this year. My working title is "Armageddon's Prisoners." I've made up a fictitious apocalyptic religion, this book is about the members struggling in the aftermath of a failed prophecy. It's a prequel to the one I hammered out two years ago (and still hope to publish). I've been struggling with a rewrite and basically decided to turn all my notes on characters and back story into a book of their own.

When I was about eight years old, there was a joke going round in the school playground.
"do you know the first sign of madness?"
"No"
"growing hairs on the palms of your hand. Do you know the second sign?"
"no"
"looking for them"
.......
....and everyone, including the victim, fell about laughing. Then the victim would find an unsuspecting. Friend who hadn't heard it.
everyone thought they were very funny and very clever.
None of you would think that, of course!

My problem is I'm still teetering between 2 stories. One is young adult, and the other is historical fiction. I think YA would be easier with this kind of format, but the historical fiction has been on my mind a long time. Oh well---I'll just see what comes out in the morning.
