Word is that up to 33% of the homes have a DVR now- a digital video recorder- and the evidence is that they just don't see any political advertisements.

10 years ago 41% in the USA read a daily newspaper- today that number is down to 23%. Maybe we will just flip a coin in the ballot booth to make our selections rather than try to wade through the negative political/ PAC propaganda to make our picks.

I wonder what campaigns will be like in another 10 years?

very true Moshe! I don't watch them anymore either. The only place now that I even hear about the election is on Facebook as I have friends on all sides.

I see "fewer people viewing political ads" as a positive development.

Both sides exaggerate, distort, and misrepresent the other sides' views.

If "political ads" are the primary, or even a principal, source of political information, heaven help us! I'd prefer the coin flip.

Why would I want to see Obama bashing on Romney instead of telling me the benefits of having himself as a president?

I don't watch any of my shows live now even news, I tape and watch 1/2 hour later. You save time too not watching the other commercials. If only I could get those phone calls to stop, DoNotCall lists will not stop them.

I read the internet way more than I ever read a newspaper. After you've seen an ad claiming "If I'm elected everything will be hunky-dory, and if my opponent is elected the country will collapse" for the thousandth time it has no impact at all.

Blondie, I haven't had a political phone call in eight years. During the 2004 campaign I took to telling whoever called that evertime they called me I was going to give a thousand dollars to the other guy.

I mute tv commercials. If i have already recorded it, i mute them and jump through them. I haven't watched or read or listened to news on tv, radio or print for at least 5 yrs. Life is better without this stuff. Given that commercials are very skillfuly designed and based on a thorough understanding of the human psyche, who can resist reacting to them? Tv news as well is generally crafted. Bottom line, all those medias take over and direct the public mind and emotions to quite an extent. I don't need the corps messing w my mind anymore than i can help it.

Internet can provide info where you can control the rate and the depth. That allows your mind time to digest.

W the information explosion, and as people learn to utilize it better to take control of their own continued educations, it wouldn't surprise me if many simply stop supporting the useless or even blood sucking parts of govt, the media and the corps. As per evolution, those parts will simply wither away.

There is no bait. It is a rhetorical question. I do not want to watch that nonsense, so I skip through it when watching recorded material.

I suppose someone could answer my question with some bit about me being a masochist. I assure you, I am not a masochist.

JeffT, I tell them they have convinced me NOT to vote for them. They are so rude. They ask "are you so-and-so" without identifying themselves. I tell them as a woman home alone I would never tell a strange man my name. Are they ashamed of who they are and represent." But I am in a union and they are just as bad reminding me to vote and to vote the union way....oy!
