Change the subject when faced with reason as usual.

@humblepotato there are quite a lot of videos of YouTube with Atheist vs Christian debates. There are even some vs JW. Check out Ted the Athiest. He's very patient and ask thoughtful questions.

Yes! and not a trace of shame at mishandling someone's statements.

    Perry,

"The biblical test for knowing God [as opposed to imagining that we know him] seems to be continued fruit of his presence. The fruit is proof the faith is (was) real."

This "knowing" is all in your brain Perry and nowhere else. We are hardwired for 'spirituality' (as an evolutionary way of bonding ourselves to the tribe). It is a way of trying to understand the world whether it be right or wrong.

Carl Sagan was a wonderful example of atheist spirituality. He reverenced the Universe.

The Dalai Lama is an example of Buddhist spirituality who said that if science were to contradict something that Buddhism taught he would choose the science.

Christianity is basically a submission ritual - also hardwired into our brain - where you get rewarded by submitting yourself to a deity. According to Christian thought it doesn't even matter how moral a person you are. Don't believe in your Jesus you're toast.

    Perry,

"JW's pick and choose a lot of things in the bible to prop up their rebellion against God when they deny the blood of the covenant that is expressly FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS."

So do both Liberal and Fundamentalist spiritualty. They simply pick and choose different portions of the Bible.

Liberals ignore the moral depravity of their Bible. American Fundamentalists ignore other scriptures such as Acts 2:45, Matthew 5:5, Matthew 25:33-45 and so forth.

You're all under the same umbrella.

Yes, we are easily fooled. The mind is capable of all sorts of self deceptions. Life without God leaves the mind and emotions to itself. Sometimes we get things right, sometimes we don't. The mind and emotions are capable of extraordinary feats of deception to try and make sense of things.

So Perry's argument is "Perry is easily fooled, therefore we should all believe in an invisible person in the sky"?

    Wow.

    Vivane,

This sign reminded me of you recently.

Perry - If we start from the "self-replicating bits" it can be shown beyond all reasonable doubt that every living thing evolved from there. The evidence is beyond all sensible debate.

That leaves you with the challenge of reconciling your version of theism with that fact.

Meanwhile science gets on with the challenge of abiogenesis and cosmic origins.

Perry, that sign that you mentioned is based on outdated science. Today Cosmologists are beginning to realize that our universe is part of a multiverse - a universe of universes. The multiverse would be eternal and that would be no different than your claiming that your god, supposed creator of anything, is also eternal.

For one to be truly intellectually honest one has to accept mankind's past ignorance of the world in which he lived

as well the ignorance and yet to be presently discovered now.

The bible is a contextual reference to that past ignorance..
