With all the high gas prices and job layoffs, I'm curious as to when the last was that you bought fine jewelry. Also, when was the last time you sold old gold?

Since I was a good JW I never went to college, so my income doesn't allow me even to consider fine jewelry.

I have never owned anything that could be classified as "fine jewelry". The most expensive thing I've ever owned is a replacement wedding ring set that cost less than $300. I don't have any particular interest in expensive jewelry - the fake stuff suits me fine. I sold an old watch about a year ago for $45 - it was in a box of costume jewelry left behind in a house we bought. I sold off my personal gold jewelry 3 or 4 years ago - I never wore any of it and it wasn't worth anything at all to me, I got a few hundred dollars for it.

I bought fine jewelry, opal earrings and opal necklace, two months ago. The only old gold I have are the fillings in my mouth and my gold ring. So I have never sold any old gold.

I have sold oodles of jewelry in recent years that I didn't wear anymore. The high gold prices were too good to pass up. I don't have any daughters to leave it to. Didn't make sense to leave it in a drawer. I bought a bracelet some months back. I might replace things if something breaks, but from now on that's about it. I also have a nice collection of costume jewelry.
I still have some nice genuine pieces left but am careful out in public. The world is different now and this isn't the '80s and cascading gold chains are seen as tacky and an invitation to be mugged. Even men have to be careful nowadays.
