Notice how Megan was blamed in the A$$embly drama?

Of course Megan could not resist marrying Zack the studly jock.

Fast forward 10 years. Megan is now so frustrated that she never sees her husband. He never shows her affection and the fact that he does nothing to help either in the house or with the kids. Naturally she expresses her frustration and resentment, especially with another addition to the red - eyed brood on the way.

It is clear Zack was always playing sports in the first place. When Megan moans to her friend she says how he is out every day doing something. But notice how the cart gets put before the horse - he says he is never at home because Megan is always so nasty to him. So SHE was the CAUSE of the behavior that had made her so resentful.

It is always the fault of the wife. Her "pal" (who looked like a dowager in her floor length piousneer frock) actually suggests that Megan needs to be nicer to her husband, then he wont want to play sports every night and be out boozing or fishing with his friends at the weekend.

Women always get dumped on in the JW religion. Of course a lot of that has to do with the book they base a lot of their doctine on.

The overriding message though was worse IMO. Basically, it was saying "Suck it up and be miserable and unhappy for the rest of your damn life"

And that springs forth from their archaic "no sex before marriage rule" These JWs get married at 18, 19, 20 years old, simply to get laid. Yeah your gonna have a few problems after the first few years of sex. If its a pair of born-ins, you are dealing with a couple of brainwashed from birth individuals trying to figure out who in the hell they are.

But as you mention, men rarely do wrong in the JW religion, its usually the little lady's fault.

    HB:

Wow, I am sorry I missed the drama .

Of course, the girl would be blamed. The recurring theme I see in many failed relationships (in and out of the religion) is that the guy is not willing to change his habits or behaviors in any way. The woman is just seen as an "addition" to his life or home (if he has one) to pick up where his mother left off. Too many guys (both young and old) think they are going to carry on with old habits as though they were single.

A young girl just starting out in life doesn't know any better and thinks she should tolerate this garbage, so she knocks herself out but, unfortunately, it is all one-sided.

To an older woman with any brains? Forget about it!

The drama in 1989 also blamed the wife for the husband's abusive behavior.

Wifey-doll is shown as a shrill nagging harpy.

She wants a divorce. It comes out in drips that for years the husband has physically abused her, and the kids, and she has had enough.

Bait-and-switch: At the end she discovers that he is having a babble study with th elduhs from her hall. Hubby says that he kept it a secret, as he is "afraid" of how she would react.

What abusive father/husband is "afraid" of his victims? The implication is that Wifey-doll is so horrible he is driven to beat up on her and their children.

Ever wonder why every woman's dream is to marry the right man but every man considers getting married to a ball & chain on life?
