True Mouthy. They want to maintain the image of a squeaky clean organization.

It's all a bit legalistic and patronising to me now . . . like Elders need copious letters of instruction on how to behave like decent human beings . . . let alone "Christians." The anonomous victims are to be patronised by superficial concern masking any personal disdain . . . on orders from WT. The subtle connection to mental illness is also a card that's always played when their precious reputation is threatened. A convenient fall-back postion when required.
This organisation has a callous spine running up it's back . . . that's only really observable with the clarity of hindsight.

Sizemik.....this is a very powerful statement. And so painfully true. When you are knee deep in the religion.....all you can see are the smoke and mirrors that have been so prominently displayed. It is one disguise after another. Yet the disguise of truth....the disguise of love SEEMS so real when your mind is so narrowly focused on THEIR ideals and doctrines.
Sometimes I feel such frustration and anger towards my wife for not seeing TTATT.....then I take a step back and realize that not that long ago....I was just as mislead as she. The clarity does not exist because there IS no hindsight for her yet.

So in short this letter is saying, "Dude, you guys remember when we told you to shut 'em up, pretend like it never happened and it will all go away? Well, they didn't forget and now we have a huge problem and gotta cover our ass!"
