I googled for reviews, I only see two bad reviews for one company that makes them. If you have it, would you recommend it for me to buy it? Where did you buy it from?

I wouldn't use one.
You can have your computer send you a text message when you get an email, or display a dialog box saying: "You've got mail" or play a sound. I wouldn't spend any money for yet another way for the computer to let me know I have an email.
If you do get one, I'd reccomend using one that doubles as a USB splitter or something.
