    About AFF Ex-Member Workshops

    These workshops are for former group members only, not family or friends (AFF has other workshops for these persons.) Topics discussed typically include:

    · the nature of psychological manipulation and abuse

    · coping with depression and guilt

    · effects of hypnosis and trance techniques

    · coping with feelings of anger

    · coping with anxiety

    · decision-making

    · dependency issues

    · reestablishing trust in yourself and others

    · the grieving process

    · reintegration/identity issues

    · spiritual and philosophical concerns

    The workshops are organized and coordinated by Carol Giambalvo, a thought reform consultant, former member of a controversial group, and author/editor of Exit Counseling: A Family Intervention and The Boston Movement: Critical Perspectives on the International Churches of Christ (Herbert L. Rosedale, co-editor). Mrs. Giambalvo serves AFF as Director of Recovery Programs, which include workshops, special publications, professional liaison, and outreach.

    Double occupancy: $175/person if register by 1 April 2002; $195/person if register by 1 June 2002; $215/person after 1 June 2002. Single occupancy: $230/person if register by 1 April 2002; $250 person if register by 1 June 2002; $260/person after 1 June 2002.     Yes, it's good these things exist. Not all need them but all too many do and will benefit greatly. Pressure techniques are common regardless of groups or doctrines.

    Presently attending a 5 week, 3 days a week, Confidence Lab Course here in the very far SW of the UK in Penzance. The course is the only one of its specific type in the country. Today during the proceedings of the interactivity of the clientele in attendance, I thought that this course would be absolutely fantastic especially for ex JW's.

    I encourage anyone here to attend Randy's Recovery workshop. Your minds will receive so much in the way of healing from attending an event such as this.

    Whoever goes, I hope you have an absolutely brilliant time.

    BTW Randy, ever considered running a course such as this in the UK, facilitating and training other would be facilitators to present similar material tailored towards the British mindset? Any thoughts on this?
