The elders can only proceed against an individual if they have two or more witnesses. In that event, if you are invited to a Judicial Committee meeting and do not attend, then you can be disfellowshipped in absentia. So in this case, it is probably best to meet and do what you can to deal with the situation. Understand that attending a JC meeting is tantamount to playing on their field by their rules and by doing so implies recognition of the authority of the WTBTS.

Just beware that two witnesses can be fabricated as easily as are convention experiences. As with DC experiences, it starts with a little bit of truth and then is embellished upon until the final product is what they want to present. So, if you spoke of your doubts or questions to any two JWs who will betray you to the elders, those testimonies can be s - t - r - e - t - c - h - e - d to the point that they serve as two witnesses to your apostacy.

For example, the fact that you KNOW of the book CoC, can be stretched to "you have evidently READ the book CoC" and if you are not there to make a personal statement they will treat your case just as the writing dept treats outside sources -- lots of "evidently" and "it would seem reasonable to conclude" . . .

If you want to avoid DF, you may be wiser to attend. Usually will be informed (or should ask) as to why a JC has been formed. It typically is not formed until AFTER they believe they have conclusive facts -- ie, two witnesses. Deny the charges and tell them you demand to face your accusers at the JC meeting. Often accusers cannot speak up so brazenly when facing a person. And, you can call them outright liars to their faces.

Ultimate strategy: DENY. LIE. GROVEL (as necessary, to allow them to feel they won you over and so they can "save face).
