bacon grease cookies

One pioneer sister in my former hall is well known for her thriftiness. Once she made chocolate chip cookies using bacon grease instead of butter. She claimed they were delicious, but no one else wanted to eat them. I learned very quickly to never eat anything she brought to get togethers.

I bet they were yummy. I mean bacon is proof there is a god.

Sadly, the bacon grease was slightly rancid. Sister Thrifty saves everything, even long past its use by date. I have no idea how long it takes for bacon grease to go rancid, I keep mine in the refrigerator and only reuse it if it's less than a week old. Otherwise it goes in the garbage on trash day.

I've lived in areas where some of the JW's are just dirt poor. But I've never had an experiance like these bacon grease cookies, yuch! She's sounds a bit off center
