Ask a Witness this question and wait for the answer...... In most cases they will tell you they will return with an answer.

Jehovah's Witnesses: What covenant are you under?

There was the Old Testament, where the book of the Law was by Moses and dedicated by the sprinkling of blood. (Hebrews 9:18:21) And the New Testament by the blood of Christ under the New Covenant. (Hebrews 10:15-22)

But isn't that new covenant only for the "anointed / spirit-filled / born-again" Christians that is limited to 144,000? (Who was the surveyor that kept track of this number through the ages?) I thought the Bible said "whosoever will, may come; and there's no respect of person with him?"

Anyway...if the above covenant is for a number of people that you are outside of...Which or what covenant (testament) are you under?

Where can I find that in scripture?

Well done Rick, good question. JWs who are members of the 'great crowd' are said to benefit from Christ's covenant with the anointed, but they are under no covenant themselves, and there are no scriptures supporting their indirect benefit from the New Covenant.

They are obviously more hardline Old Testament followers and give lip-service to the New Testament.

Maybe you guys are operating under a literary conceit called the New Testament and none of it is real.

While Paul’s remarks were addressed to

anointed Christians, what he said about

God’s spirit and Christ’s ransom sacrifice

can benefit all servants of Jehovah regardless

    of the hope they entertain.

whahaha lol It was some part in the study WT last weekend!

A JW might answer that he is under the Noachian covenant (= covenant between God and Noah). They used to refer to an Edenic covenant, but I see they now call it the "Edenic promise", according to the Insight-books. Actually there is no such thing as an Edenic covenant. God never concluded a covenant with Adam or Eve. Those belonging to the "other sheep" miss out on all the other covenants, which is between God and the Jews, today between God and "spiritual Jews," i.e. the anointed remnant.

A lot of the glaring distortions of common sense inherent in Jehovah's Witness mainstream thought flowed from the erratic Legalist mindset of

    Judge Joe Rutherford.

Rutherford served for awhile as a Prosecutor in a District Attorney's office. His view of "getting the job done" consisted of hammering away at

an "enemy" with a litany of bullet points. His theological mindset was hardly any different!

Look at the legal terms that seeped in to JW everyday parlance.

In Law there are Circuit courts and District courts.

In Watchtower religion there are Circuit assemblies and District assemblies.

In law courts there are summoned "witnesses" to provide testimony either to vindicate or rebutt claims.

In Watchtower religion Jehovah has "witnesses" who vindicate His holy name and go door to door to rebutt Christendom's "lies".

This legalist interpretive function was absorbed by the "Governing Body".

Interestingly, the Governing Body did to Nathan Knorr what Rutherford did to Russell's Board of Directors and completely shut off Plenary Power.

In recent decades this Governing Body has done the same thing to rank and file members by pulling the plug on them as well.

The Governing Body has Plenary Power over other anointed and have defined themselves into an elite.

The Covenant Promises of the bible have been self-allocated leaving the rank and file to beg outside their gate, as it were, with obeisance and petitions for leniency.

This was done with such insidiously subtle finesse few are aware of the coup or when it took place. Guess when it happened?

WHILE ALL THE WITNESSES IN THE WORLD WERE LOOKING THE OTHER WAY AT 1975!

Try asking a Rabbi about the 'New Covenant' and then ask why Saint Paul made up another story.
