Very interesting documentary on Channel4 this evening, all about the sunken kingdoms, civilisations off India's East and West coasts. Both of these sunken cities are only now being seriously underwater archaelogically surveyed. The one on the East coast is of massive dimensions, incedibly technologically advanced civilisation pre dating anything else thus far seen. The program was by a gentleman by the name of Graham Hancock.

From a Witness upbringing perspective, I thought maybe some of you guys might like to read up on this, so here is the weblink for you all:

Graham Hancock is back on telly then.
He has been writen off as a crank by many historians and archeologists ,but seems this time to have toned down his ideas a bit.
I actually think there could be something to his latest idea.
If there were civalisaions before the end of the ice age then I would expect them to live on the coast as it is a good place for a town to be situated.
Of course when the ice melted they would have been flooded. It would have seemed like the end of the world to them.
But was there really a man like Noah where all these flood stories originate?
How can the Indian story be conected to the biblical and sumerian story?Maybe they are one and the same story and not seperate legends as wideley believed .
If there were civalisations before the ice age how advanced were they if they managed to create major cities then what else were they capable of?

Yeah, I watched that program too. Very interesting. The March 1st Watchtower is about the flood and mentions the Indian flood myths. It seems to me that so many cultures having ancient flood legends must be more than coincidence. This program gave me the impression that the stories from around the world could have been based on one event – the end of the ice-age just over 11 thousand years ago. This evidently caused massive inundation of the Indian coast with the loss of many cities to the sea. It would be logical to conclude that this would be happening to many civilisations around the world – of course, the ancient people always attributed such things to the anger of a god,
hence the preponderance of flood myths. I think a global flood as described in the bible is out of the question, there is just no physical evidence to support such a catastrophic event, an event which is supposed to have happened just 4000 years ago. There is evidence of local floods which are much older (the evidence would have been wiped out had there been a world-wide flood) and other disastrous events in the ancient world i.e. droughts brought about by climate change which wiped out civilisations but I think that a flood of the magnitude of the one described in the scriptures would leave absolutely obvious evidence.
