There are two ways that we will see major apocalypse, and neither has anything to do with religion and God intervening.

The first way is that mankind will be enslaved. They are already devaluing the dollar. I cannot predict when, because they will do all they can to delay it as much as possible. But, the longer they try and prop the dollar up with more debt, the bigger the crash when it does happen. Ultimately, the One World Totalitarian Government will exploit this, along with the "environmental" rubbish and the phude "safety(??)" rubbish to enslave us all. When, is another matter--it will be when they damn well feel like itl

The second is that the earth will itself be destroyed. We could crash into a planet (either a rogue planet or one that gets disturbed from its orbit), or the sun will swallow up the earth. Or, we could come close enough to another star to fling earth right into the sun or totally out of orbit. Note that, in this event, nothing anyone does save to find another earth and move there is going to do any good. And, since we cannot see the oncoming planets, this end is totally unpredictable but is likely to be in the range of billions of years out. Earth being swallowed up by the sun, assuming it isn't smashed or thrown out of the solar system, is a good 4 billion years into the future and not survivable by doing anything short of finding another planet to live on.

Anyone that makes up dates based on religion is bound to be embarrassed when the next year comes and nothing happens. This is as true when Jehovah's Witlesses mess up on 1874 as when someone constantly posts on a forum that the end of 2011 is the end of mankind. The Y2K was at least plausible, since any computer network that is date dependent and loses its ability to function when the date gets thrown off was at risk. (But most computers simply had glitches, like getting on the hook for 100 years' interest on bills a few days past due.) Everything else is basically rubbish--even the 2012 theory. No increased enlightenment--if anything, another failed attempt at salvation when the Establishment installs another president on January 20, 2013. (Who will be responsible for finishing off the United Tyranny of Stupidity, not some ancient religious prediction.)

Hard to believe that JWs are only in spot #9, and that only Russell's 1914 prediction got mentioned.

    Jehovah's Witnesses

Top 10 End of the World Prophecies ca. 1900 --- Charles Taze Russell (1852-1916), known as Pastor Russell, was the founder of the Jehovah's Witnesses movement.

The onset of World War I freaked a lot of people out. But it was especially trippy for the Zion's Watch Tower Tract Society, a group that's now called Jehovah's Witnesses. The society's founder, Charles Taze Russell, had previously predicted Christ's invisible return in 1874, followed by anticipation of his Second Coming in 1914. When WW I broke out that year, Russell interpreted it as a sign of armageddon and the upcoming end of days or, as he called it, the end of "Gentile times." History proved otherwise .

Most folks on this board will also realize that the JWs made it with #1, the Millerites, since that is really what spawned the JWs, I wish the article would have mentioned that.

Interesting is it not that so many lies can be purposely substantiated by using the Bible as a source.

Since the Bible for many is perceived as the word of god, people take anything that a man reads out of it as

solemn factual truth. In reality its the cultivated fear and ignorance which created attention to these individuals, spiritually guided seers as it were.

The WTS/JWS is a clear and obvious example of fear mongering Charlatanism, produced from a disingenuous religious publishing house, but

again sourced from the book of Truth, the bible.

Patience. It'll get here soon enough because the earth is destined for fire and complete destruction which is made clear by 2 Peter 3:10,11: "But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a mighty roar and the elements will be dissolved by fire and the earth and everything in it will be found out. ... everything is to be dissolved this way," (NAB; "Total destruction is assumed (11)," notes 3,10). "...the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat" (2 Peter 3:12). "But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men" (2 Peter 3:7). Peter's warning reemphasized Zephaniah's warning, where the ancient prophet transmitted the Almighty's words, "I will utterly consume all things from off the face of the ground, saith Jehovah. I will consume man and beast; I will consume the birds of the heavens, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumbling blocks with the wicked; and I will cut off man from off the face of the ground, saith Jehovah" (Zephaniah 1:2,3)

Complete destruction of man on earth is intended. " Their blood will be poured out like dust and their entrails like dung. 18 Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to save them on the day of the LORD’s wrath.” In the fire of his jealousy the whole earth will be consumed, for he will make a sudden end of all who live on the earth (Zephaniah 1:17, 18). The Jehovah's Witnesses theory that they alone, their great crowd, will survive Armageddon and be ruled from heaven by the 144,000 is simply not in accord with Scripture.

For someone who doesn't believe in an afterlife, Judgment Day or Armageddon, you seem worried about it like you're afraid of what's going to happen to you.
