Could an open source effort find a cure for cancer? Listen to this amazing presentation!

This new effort gives me hope because it exposes a powerful possibility. Corporations hate to develop anything that doesn't have a nice, predictable cash flow attached to it, by establishing dependency. So, you get ways to treat cancer but perhaps no cure. However, if an open source group of researchers toss a 'breakthrough grenade' into public view, with samples and instructions sent to international laboratories, corporations may have no choice.

Why do we have hybrids like the Prius? Because Japanese car companies freaked out into designing them after GM was forced to produce the EV-1 electric car in California (which they later destroyed). So, who knows?

There are also open source efforts for free energy going on. This is the kind of collective effort that narrow Watchtower mentality never imagines, prefering to preach unceasing pessimism. The human race will prevail!

    Worked for Linus Torvalds

Hopefully the medicial research community can/will do the same?
