LITS's recent thread on not bothering the branch with requests to have our relatives called on reminded me of this old thread. In Awake! the Society urged the public to ask Jehovah's Witnesses about exciting developments in the near future, particularly regarding the role to be played by the United Nations. Really now, is this how it works?

Well !! You learn something everyday on this site. Reading this thread has only now enlightend me to the change/flip-flop regarding the UN as the "disgusting thing standing in a holy place"

This reminds me of what is probably one of those urbane jw myths...
a jw was going door to door and met an official of the UN, and during the sermon mentioned how the UN was going to turn on and destroy the world empire of false religion...
to which, in most secretive and urgent tones, the official wanted to know how this person knew of the real aim of the UN...

LOL . . . I remember some yarn very similar to this here in NZ . . . probably a variant . . . the only difference was the JW sat next to the UN guy on a plane. Cloak and dagger stuff. Very thrilling.
It was a plane, train, and then a shared taxi cab...
