I watched an old sci fi movie from the late 1950's that took place in the distant future. That future was 1975!
You wouldn't believe how many extraordinary things were predicted to happen by then. And yet.....

December 21, 2012. A day that is about as significant as moving from the northern hemisphere to the southern hemisphere would be. And about as destructive.

Considering they were gone by about 900 AD, their calendar going to 2012 is not bad. Hell, I had checks with 19__ on them that I couldn't use a couple of years after they were printed.
