Let's start a thread about our therapuetic experiences with recovering from the "Truth". I understand born-ins are probably more likely to get help than converts. What were some of the big hang ups you suffered after leaving? What helped you get past them?

Broken Promises
One of the hardest things to get over was feeling different from "the world".
As a born-in, I'd been brainwashed into "us and them" type thinking. And in many many ways, I was an outsider. It was hard to adjust to a life outside the JWs.
I've likened it to living as an expat in other country. You may live in that country, you may learn to speak the language, you may work there, have friends there, eat the food, pay taxes... but you are never one of "them". You are an outsider, no matter how much you want to be part of your new culture.
I'm still adjusting to my new culture, although it does get easier with time.
