"Unholy" Spirit in 12/15/2011 WT Study Article

  Hmmmmm have you ever heard of the "Unholy Spirit"? Or the Unholy Ghost? No? Me neither! Here's a screen grab from pages 15 and 16:

  

  This says that that most people, i.e., ALL people not purified by the GB, have an Unholy Spirit TM ? That's 7 billion that will be killed at armageddon to be exact. Well anyway, I didn't remember ever hearing of this before in the pubs so I did some digging. The phrase has been used exactly TWO times in the WT Library, in the 1984 WT, March 15, as well as the old but still spry 1955 WT of 10/1. The former mentions "an unholy spirit, or motivating force, [that] produces ‘enmities, strife, contentions, divisions, sects." and the latter talks about "unholy spirit creatures".

  Well I'm glad we got THAT settled. Anyway, avoid the Unholy Spirit TM , and you will prosper. Good health to you!

  Since its in small caps, Im assuming the "unholy spirit" isnt the Devil then?

  It strikes me as very paranoid...unholy spirit resides in the "worldly people"....Run from the bad people...RUN!

  RayPublisher - I think it's another name for "the spirit of the world", i.e. greed, selfishness, hate... basically everything that is the exact opposite of the fruitage of the spirit - or the "influence of Satan", whatever you want to call it. I don't think it's referring to anything mystical beyond that. It's a curious expression to be using though...

  It's another tool to guilt people into doing more for the witlesses. Notably, the witlesses display quite an unholy spirit themselves.

  Is it me or are the newer dubllications getting more and more weird and outlandish?

  Has the writing committee discovered Judge Boozerford's secret hooch stash and gone and got pissed up whilst writng the latest propaganda?
