  What happened to — Rami Oved

  Today I uploaded a new article to my blog about a man named Rami Oved. In 1994 the Watchtower organization published this man’s story. He was an officer in a special forces unit of the Israeli armed forces. He ended up becoming one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, which is why Watchtower published his experience. It was very compelling as a personal experience. Where is he now?

  Hi Marvin . . .

  Rami is resident here in Christchurch, New Zealand. He actually lives out in the country a ways . . . on a small lifestyle block with his family. I still keep in touch with him occasionally and have him as a FB friend.

  He is no longer JW as you know. Many will already know that Rami lost his young son in a mountain camping tragedy about 10 years ago, which created quite a stir here both publically and within JW ranks. Rami still grieves a lot, but is happy and content. He is a very nice guy.

  I am so sorry to hear about the death of Mr. Oved's son...

  In reading the accounts, though, I'd say there's a lot that has been left out. That whole story about how he ended up lost - and then dead - is extremely weak and fishy.

  I suspect that there was some sort of vicious 'hazing' that went on, and Elon may have been targeted because he felt uncomfortable about the bizarre behavior of the other boys - and that some form of bullying took place...

  And then things took a particularly ugly turn...

  Thanks for reminding readers of the tragedy experienced by the Oveb Family. When I first posted this article I was not even thinking about that. I still wince thinking about that incident! What a tragedy.

  Next time you converse with Rami please give him my best and ask him to drop a line with he has time.
