I was reading Wilbur Lingle's book on the JW's and he had the following quote. Below I've pasted a screen pic from my copy of the February 1881 Watchtower. This quote is from Charles Russell and seems to be devastating to the WT believe in new light:

    Hehe... good find! :D

Yes. Excellent find! Where is this again? I would love to print this out for my elder dad and o-so faithful mother.

    WELCOME! Thanks for this.

Good find, but to the JW's, Russell was wrong about things, this would just be another one of his errors. New light says he was wrong about how new light works.

Jehovah's Witnesses aren't Russellites after all, elders would ask you if you were one of those apostates, still stuck with the old "Bible Students" movement.

Excellent find, that's a great first post. Welcome to the forum, mfriend!

New light says he was wrong about how new light works.

This is actually how JWs view Russell's new light quote!

Actually, JWs today neither know nor care about anything Russell taught other than that the number 1914 was in there somewhere...

... never mind what he really said about that date...

Ding is right show a quote from Russell to today's JWs and they'll simple say we do not follow that person. ( Pastor Russell who ? )

Or in a expressed attempt to protect the organization they will say those words are true

for the light just keeps getting brighter as time proceeds and as we receive a further pouring out of god's holy spirit.

All light by the WTS. gets exploited for its usefulness in expanding the circulation and promotion of the WTS. published literature.

    Hi StillStuckCruz:

The quote is from the February 1881 issue of the Zions Watch Tower (it says page 188 at the bottom and is located in the first column , 2nd paragraph).
