Obituary / Infomercial?? The first I've ever seen. How about you?

    This morning's local paper carried the obituary of a local musician, designer, etc., whose memorial will be some 14 miles from where we live.

    What caught my eye is the advertisement within the body (no pun intended) of the obituary. Apparently the family doesn't want this man's passing to go without a bit of commercial leverage. Note the bolded statement below. Does this look out of place?

    Anthony "Tony" Passafiume born December 30, 1945 in Chicago to Anthony and Mary (Castrogiovanni) Passafiume. Mr. Passafiume departed this life July 29, 2011 in Chidester, AR.

    Tony was by profession a Mechanical Engineer. He transferred to Arkansas in 1981 with Johnson and Johnson (Chicopee).

    He loved to hunt, fish and trap shoot. He was two (2) times Arkansas State Trap Shooting Champion -- 1994 Handicap, 2004 Singles. A member of the NRA and the Amatuer Trap Shooting Association.

    He loved the banjo and the banjo world loved him. He designed and developed the Tony Pass(TM) banjo rim and patented the Thin Skirt(TM).     If not out of place, then certainly in poor taste.

    Although there were some nice tribute-like pages on the website regarding his work and passion for what he did... still think it's tacky to direct people to the commercial page.

    Joseph Jackson couldn't help doing a plug for some musician at the same time as he spoke of his son's death.

    BTW, does anyone remember who that musican was? I can't.
