Do they check for badges when parking at the convention for free parking?

I usually park at a certain lot for work, close to the main arena for the city. Seems they are having their convention this year, every friday parking is impossible. I did notice one thing though... while driving up a jdub attendant was standing to the side of the parking attendant booth (where you pay) and was starting to walk out, but then the lady I see almost everyday, said something to him and he walked back to his spot. It made me wonder, are they checking to see if you are attending and thus you get free parking? I though they basically rented the entire lot arena? I realize that free parking off the backs of the dubs would not be kosher, but it got me thinking...

We used to have to "buy" parking tickets and put it by the windshield. Then we no longer bought it but got the ticket to identify ourselves as jws connected with the convention. There were also other events going on in buildings near by connected with the convention building where attendees had to pay and came through the same gate.

Really the parking is not free but included in the rental of the building. But jws no longer have to pay upfront in the congregations and then donate at the convention. The WTS at one point lied to the building administration and said that jws were not paying for the parking.

    In my expereince, no.

In the past, when each JW delegate had to pay for parking, you had to show a parking "ticket", a little cardboard square (at least that's how it worked in the US).

For the first 2 or 3 years after parking became "free", I seem to recall them looking for the badge, then just not bothering any more.
