Tribute to Roger Ebert, still alive and reviewing

Roger Ebert is one of my all time heroes. The fact that he still writes great movie reviews even after losing his voice to cancer just adds to his legacy. I read his reviews whenever I can and he is still articulate as ever. His world must have changed! No more talking after all he did was analyze movies with the added gimick of discussing it with others. He is an inspiration for me and has helped me to enjoy fiction at a deep level.

I am pretty sure that money is part of your hero. As it is money that gave him the courage to pay for the procedures that most people could not even remotely think of doing.

An odd fact to point out, but I think I see where you going with it.

Odd, but so true. A hero to me, is someone who does something of complete courage in the most challenging of circumstances. Personally, I think the term is over used and lost all meaning.

Interesting. I, too, am a fan of Roger Ebert, not because he has persevered against enormous difficulties, but because what he writes (not just reviews) is so meaningful. I also agree with free - "hero" is overused.

And further, Ebert as a far left liberal, would be at complete odds politically with sabatious.

Acording to Ebert "video games are not art".

    Ebert can go f* himself.

    I make art.

And I'll tell you this: Making a video game requires a DAMN lot more work and skill than Ebert has ever exhibited. Video games (excluding facebook/iphone crap) take cinema into the next fronteer - instead of experiencing the story from a 3rd person perspective, games put you in the first person... an extremely complicated thing to do.

So, yeah, I think Ebert sucks.

"Art is in the eye of the beholder." By that dictum, Ebert's opinion is as valid as yours. BTW, my egg salad is not art just because I declare it to be so. Unless we declare everything in the universe to be "art" - in which case, therefore, nothing is.

At the end of the day.. the game industry has surpassed the movie industry in size and profit, and profit is good. Recognition for artistic design and storytelling is nice too, though.

Ebert shuns and insults the hard work of an entire industry. So, I gladly throw insults at him. He deserves it. BOOO!!
