To understand the Watchtower you must understand the Watchtower Brand

Growing up in the Organization I was told that the Tetragrammaton was removed from the Bible and replaced with "LORD" by Satan. Satan did this to confuse the world and further his agenda. What I found out when I left the Organization was that the original language the Bible was written lacked vowels. The reason for replacing YHWH with LORD is because the translators could not, in good conscience, translate the Divine Name without knowing what the vowels were. "Jehovah" or "Yahweh" are just our best guesses and the translators of most Bible's couldn't reconcile the conflict within their minds to put God's name, in the Bible, when they knew that it was not correct.

This is an understandable and legitimate position for anyone to take. The logic is sound, but still I was consistently told that it was Satan that made the change. Why?

It's because "Jehovah" is part of the Watchtower brand. Religion is the business of salvation and having a distinguishable brand is a requirement for business growth at higher levels. The Watchtower and it's leaders have always understood this and have designed into their religion a recognizable brand.

Once you start applying branding when breaking down Watchtower policy and doctrine they really start to make sense. If you try to apply normal morals and ethics to the Watchtower what you end up with is a monster, but isn't that what Big Business is?

The WatchTower brand has the unique dogma of living forever on a paradise earth- and you will never have to die! You'll go straight from this bad world, through Armageddon and into paradise! You can't get this promise from any other Christian religion, nay, it's only by joining the Wacktower Corporation brand of Christianity- called Jehovah's Witnesses, that can get you into the 1/10% club of mankind who have this hope.

This occurred to me last fall at a Special Assembly when the Circuit Overseer reinforced that field service would continue (whether it is effective or not), and reminded the brothers and sisters to dress modestly and well. After all, what they are doing is representing the WTBTS. They won't drop the door-to-door work because it is part of the recognizable brand.

I questioned our reasoning for our position on Birthdays as did many Witnesses around me. Even my right wing Witness family thought it was "overboard." So why does the Watchtower hang on so dearly to the zany doctrine? A Witness might tell you it's because God uses "imperfect men" and their flaws seep into God's perfect message and taints it. They say it's up to us to clear the tarnish off leaving nothing but Divinity. Such a response has logical merrit, but it doesn't really answer the question. In fact, when the "imperfect men" argument is invoked many other questions will spring up and demand to be dealt with. Most Witnesses don't bother with those questions, but some do.

The point is, branding exposes the reasons for their seemingly Birthday obsession. What mainstream religion has such a staunch position on Birthdays? Just one, and they like it that way.

Yesiree, Sab, the JWs love their wacko dogmas- it's like walking a tight rope, as it gives them comfort to say we're the only Christians who do or don't do that. (let's not talk about, why no WT charities?)
