So, I'm not the only one who was like "Wait! This sounds like the relationship between JWs and the GB."? I rewound the song and listened to it, imagining the Society as the false mother and the publishers as Rapunzel. The correlation was frightening. Then, Rapunzel, torn between her new-found freedom and guilt based on all the lies and emotional manipulation was eerily familiar.
Held captive, used, controlled with exaggerated evils of the world, insulted to lower self-worth and inhibit independence, etc., all under the guise of "love".
