TRUST comes from Promise and Performance: the GB test

Trust is based on expectation (of a promise made) and performance.

I promise you something and you expect it; then, I deliver on my promise.

    TRUST is established.

The Watchtower Society establishes trust by rhetorical promises, reassurances, constant repetition of features and benefits in the bye and bye: life everlasting vs destruction at Armageddon.

THEY INVITE YOUR TRUST by making wonderful promises---but--HAVE THEY EARNED YOUR TRUST by PERFORMANCE??

The Watchtower Governing Body are like a gigantic BERNIE MADOFF promising fabulous returns on invested money.

The investor looks around at all the high-profile celebrities who are trusting Bernie and say to themselves: "He must be trustworthy, look at all the others."

    Smoke and mirrors.

The rank and file JW looks around at the only friends (fellow JW's) he has/trusts and says: "They trust the GB, I should too."

End of argument. Emotional security has been established NOT BY PERFORMANCE but by the number of OTHERS who also trust!

To shatter that illusion of TRUST you must snap the illusory link between PROMISES and PERFORMANCE.

Important note: It doesn't matter how many people are given counterfeit money to spend. The money has no basis as legal tender.

It may look "spendable" but it is bogus.

What ACTUAL performance has followed Governing Body promises?

Here is a simple test anybody can understand.

If Jehovah's Witness leaders are REALLY THE MOUTHPIECE of Jehovah it is an absolute certainty they can't be wrong.

    It is not possible.

But--if they speak in Jehovah's name and what they say doesn't happen, THEY ARE FALSE PROPHETS.

    There is no wiggle room.

    See below:

they have been guessing and guessing WRONG for the entire history of the religion.

    "BERNIE MADOFF" is in charge!

There has been ZERO performance on promises made.

    Game Over!

You don't CHANGE something if it is TRUE to begin with.

The Governing Body changes and changes and changes what it says.

    They do not perform.

There is no basis for trust.

Call a cop! Pull your investment out immediately!

Great reasoning Terry. The graphic really puts it all into perspective.

It all comes down to performance.

WHAT HAS THE WATCHTOWER actually done to make good on any of their predictions or promises?

They've changed how they explain things over and over.

Does that fill you with confidence? Changing things?

If it ain't broke you don't fix it.

    They are ALWAYS FIXIN' IT!

    That sucker is BROKE!!

Yes, good and sound reasoning. The game they've been playing for decades is also known as the Big Store Con.

Every conversation with a JW should end with "So, tell me...name one thing the Watchtower predicted that actually happened?"

    That WILL END any conversation!
