As I was skimming the Times this morning, I saw a digest of an article about the fortune of witches and fortune tellers in Romanian. They will be fined heavily if their predictions don't come true. The first group I thought about was the Witnesses. I doubt they are covered by the law. The popular culture image of a fortune teller with a headwrap with coins and a crystal ball is funny. Some people truly believe. I know Ivy League grads who see fortune tellers. They rely on the readings for important decisions. I'm not saying this is a wise law. It does demonstrate the cost of society in general as people are lured into belief.

I wonder how they will document what was said. Running late so I can't read the whole article. When I was young, a Romana had an outpost in our neighborhood in a store front. I walked out of my way to avoid b/c I thought it was demonic and maybe they would bother me. Yet the very org who had me snubbing the gypysy was fortune telling with probably fewer positive outcomes.

Hah ha ha!!! Yeah, the imagination runs riot with the thought of what would happen to the Watchtower Society's assets in Romania if that law were equally enforced across the board...

But I suspect that the Catholic Church would ALSO be liable for heavy fines, in that case...
