Wouldn't be effective. New light and all that happy crappy. Witnesses won't see the truth until they are ready and search for it on their own.

It might get a few JWs to investigate to see if the Awake cover really said this.
But most JWs don't seem to care what the WT said in 2008, let alone in 1968.
WT "light" has a very short lifespan.

The constant and frequent change of lights has a diminishing effect on the "past light" and an empowering effect on the "new light". This means most JWs don't know\care\want to find out about the "past light" doctrines. They get older and forget that what is now "past light" was once "new light" and was the Truth. This is how the Borg fools them.

The '1914' cover stirs more emotion, especially because most of those guys would not be alive and brings home the message stronger.
