In your opinion, if Russell were alive today, what would he think of the modern day Bible Students?

He would regard them as just another part of Babylon the Great. As I quoted yesterday in another thread:

    ***w15 7/15 p. 218-219 Question Meeting -- Oakland Convention***

The people in the Methodist church have almost no liberty, except the privilege of giving money.... I have had several Methodist ministers tell me this. They complain about it, but do not want to get out of a job altogether. That is not the liberty wherewith Christ makes free. I realize that this is a system. Let me show you what a system it is. The bishops control the presiding elders, and under them the presiding elders control the preachers; and so it is all the way down to the class leaders. They have their head or chief amongst them. They have a human head. The General Conference is the highest authority. So the Presbyterian church has a head in the way of a General Assembly which has the deciding of matters. All this is according to the course of this world. The simplicity of Christ is not generally observed, except amongst the friends of the International Bible Students Association. There it is very general, and the Word of God is observed. They learn to take notice when things are going wrong. The simplicity of the matter is evident to all....

There would be nothing to come out of, as an organization, if one is an International Bible Student. You cannot get out of anything you have not gone into. If any one can tell me how he got into Babylon by getting interested in the affairs of the WATCH TOWER BIBLE AND TRACT SOCIETY, let him show me how he will jump out, and I will jump with him.

Leo: I think I may have been unclear. I'm asking about the modern Bible Students who reject the JWs, but defend Russell and promote his ideas and his example as a Pastor. Your comment definitely tells us how Russell would feel about modern Jehovah's Witnesses.

Oh I misread that! I think he'd be surprised to see the world as it is today, at very least.

He would think that they were a bunch of nutters for trying to revolve his teachings so that he/they didn't look like a bunch of kooks.

I was going to say that he would run to the Great Pyramid to figure things out.

    Designs beat me to it...
