SETH THOMAS HOSPITALIZED
Seth Thomas, the young man featured in KNOCKING who received a bloodless liver transplant, is now in the intensive care unit in a Dallas-area hospital due to complications from the disease that has returned and weakened his liver. In order to address the underlying issue he must receive a full cadaver liver transplant. In KNOCKING, Seth received a partial liver from his father. But to remedy the current problem, Seth needs the complete liver systems that cannot be harvested from a live-donor. So far, none of the surgeons Seth has contacted have been willing to take his case. The surgeons say a full cadever transplant years after a live-donor procedure presents further complications when maneuvering around previous reconstructions and scars.
If anyone on this update list knows of a surgeon or medical center that might consider Seth's case, please send a note to: [email protected]
For now, Seth is being treated for comfort. While fully aware of his situation, Seth is in high spirits and relying on his faith. He continues to have a positive attitude and outlook. His wife Nina, along with family and friends, are supporting him. Seth wants to report the good news that his son is now 6 months old and has been a healthy and easy-going baby. Seth has enjoyed being a father and his son brings much joy to the family.
If you would like to send a message of support and encouragement, do not reply to this email address. Please send a separate note to: [email protected]
Seth and his family will be able to read your messages when time permits. They have found much strength in past messages and thank you for them. Please understand that it is unlikely Seth or his family will be able to reply with a personal note but they greatly appreciate every message received.
