That looks like a clip from Cops with a psychotic person disturbing the peace.

The rambling made no sense and IMO had little hope of convincing anyone to rethink anything. Just disturbing the peace.

    Morpheus,

Agree. I'm trying to be kind to Ninja and give him the benefit of the doubt if possible. After he made this comment about me “the witty diarrhea constantly spilling out of his (DJS) mouth", my next response to him was:

Me: Finally, something on which we agree:

Ninja: "A group of men living in ivory towers have created a system of slavery and control over a mass of people who want to believe in a better world. They have taken their money, time and souls. They have made them objects of mockery and have caused children to die and be abused because of their policies. They have lied repeatedly on prophesying the end of the world. They have destroyed many peoples lives by their shunning policy."

This is a powerful, well written, statement. If Ninja would take his passion, his intelligence and energy and use it in a more effective manner he could accomplish a lot in making the Dark Lords squirm.

indeed, DJS. As has been noted however, this stunt seemed more abput garnering attention and self importance than actually helping the people in that hall. A better motive would lead to more rational actions and more favorable results.

DJS I'm willing to hear about any method that works. If there is one that stops those criminals in New York from hurting another person, I'm all for it. The jury is still out on that.

Ninjamaskinen, I must acknowledge that there are many variables that influence whether or not a "method" works. That said, there are "methods" that do make matters worse (i.e., increase the likelihood that JWs become more convinced they've got the "truth" and are being persecuted). I have yet to hear of any Witness or pro-Witness woken up by invasive "methods". On the other hand, I know of so many who have woken up by calm, reasoning on TTATT.

But again, that saying about leading a horse to water, etc. Or to use Paul Simon's observation: "A man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest."

I have to say that a outburst in the Kingdom Hall or whatever, shouldn't rattle the JW, ESPECIALLY in the inner city/ghetto. I was raised in the inner city and I remember cases where nutcases came in the hall. Some were JW, while others came off the street and we're firmly escorted off property. I remember one of my childhood friends talking about a incident with a homeless, crazy man coming in the hall and making a disturbance. He said his father, a elder, and a few other brothers got physical with the guy. They got in a few punches right in the Hall. Therefore, I don't think JW will assume a "apostate" will be the ones guaranteed to disrupt a service. Their meetings are open to the PUBLIC you know. They can just make their Memorial a private event with ONLY invited guests by their invitation. That would cut down on the crazies coming in. I know they do a decent job of security at the halls. At least the ones where I went to. They always had the big brother sit by the door or at the desk with the CCTVs. Hey but if we want to take it to the extreme, hypothetically speaking, a person could come in the hall dressed up and leave a bag with a bomb and walk out. I heard of bomb threat at the old Woodland Hills assembly hall, which was over 13 years ago. Everybody had to quietly evacuate that day. I still don't know who was behind it. Maybe a EXJW. Anyways, it's a crazy world with crazy people and crazy religions.

The problem that some people have is that the things that actually work take a lot of effort and don't produce any fireworks. But they do work - there are many stories from people who have left that say why they left and what helped them leave. In practically all cases it's information and friendly approachable people, never aggressive tactics that frightened or belittled them into leaving.

There is little personal public glory to be had from being helpful and supportive though. It's why I always question the motivations of people who carry out these publicity stunts - they like to label it "trying to help" after the fact to excuse their actions but we all know the only thing they want to help is their own ego's.

Their meetings are open to the PUBLIC you know.

Being open to the public doesn't mean that anyone and everyone can come in and do whatever they want. There is an implied contract: you are welcome as long as you obey the rules of admission.

For truly public spaces, the laws are just the general laws of behaviour for society. For spaces where the public has been invited to attend there are expectations of what is and isn't acceptable for the venue / event itself.

I heard of bomb threat at the old Woodland Hills assembly hall, which was over 13 years ago. Everybody had to quietly evacuate that day.

BTW: Many years ago (30+?) there was a bomb actually detonated in a KH - I think it may have been in Australia but I'm not sure.

@Simon I know places open to the Public have rules and regulations for people to abide by. I meant to say that there are risks in a place being open for the public. Not everybody will want to be peaceful in those environments. I've done security at hotels, places that open to the public, and you get all kind of lunatics that come in there. If you try to get help legally....it's a pain in the a**. Law enforcement don't want to help with these situations. From my experience, it really has to be a serious threat to someone's safety. Even then, getting a restraining order and going to court over it is time consuming. I remember the Director of Security at the hotel I was at; he tried to get a restraining order for a crazy homeless man that liked to hang around the hotel. The guy would bother guests for cigarettes, sleep on the planters and take sh**s on there daily. We couldn't get him away. LAPD wouldn't do anything but take him away and let him go a few days later. The guy would just come back and do the same sh**. Even when he threatened security, nothing was done. That's for a homeless man. A man with nothing to lose don't care what you can do to him. Anyways, that's how it is where I'm at in California.

Simon, I think it;s a good thing that people escape, whether by the methods you state or by people protesting. I remember seeing a protester at an assembly as a teenager and although he seemed crazy, he did make me question why someone would go to all that effort to make some noise. A seed was planted that day. I can't credit this person for liberating me from the org, but he did make a difference.
