    • Willingly and unrepentantIy taking blood. If someone willingly takes blood, perhaps because of being under extreme pressure, the committee should obtain the facts and determine the individual's attitude. If he is repentant, the committee would provide spiritual assistance in the spirit of Galatians 6:1 and Jude 22,23. Since he is spiritually weak, he would not qualify for special privileges for a period of time, and it may be necessary to remove certain basic privileges. Depending on the circumstances. the committeemay also need to arrange for an announcement to the congregation: "The elders have handled a matter having to do with [name of person]. You will be glad to know that spiritual shepherds are endeavoring to render assistance." On the other hand, if the elders on the committee determine that he is unrepentant, they should announce his disassociation.

Since they have a dozen sub-rules on the issue why is it simply "If someone willingly takes blood" with no apparent consideration for details. And how cowardly in this instance to not disfellowship but rather call it disassociation because of the legal implications.

Their language on this topic didn't fool anyone accept the government of Bulgaria.

If an active JW accepts blood, he or she is excommunicated. Period.

This is what WT refers to as a "Personal Decision".

    Cults shoot their wounded.

And how magnanimous of them to add this "The elders have handled a matter having to do with [name of person]. You will be glad to know that spiritual shepherds are endeavoring to render assistance." Aren't they just wonderful.

I guess "extreme pressure" would be that whole "you'll die without it", right? Die as a patriot, or live as a traitor? Prisoner's dilemma, yes?

"You will be glad to know that spiritual shepherds are endeavoring to render assistance."

Phew, I was up all night wondering if the spiritual shepherds will muster the strength to endeavor to render assistance!

    Freaking morons...

They never take the simplest route. Since the Bible doesn't say anything about medical blood transfusions (just eating blood), all they would have to do is totally eliminate this rule and admit that it was a completely stupid rule that had no Scriptural basis, and all this crap about which fractions of blood are acceptable and which are not would be totally unnecessary. They would also save lots of paper on those suicide cards each year, and there would be no further need for Hospital Hounding Committees. In turn, that would free still more resources to tend to real issues, like making sure they abide by the Bible they claim to.

This is a double standard that was the result of WT legal's dishonest handling of the situation in Bulgaria where in exchange for legal recognition they agreed to take to enforce sanctions toward members who accepted blood transfusions. You cannot be disfellowshipped for taking a blood transfusion instead you are dissasociating yourself by your actions. In the Bible book of Acts abstaining from blood is mentioned along side fornication. So how is that those who commit fornication aren't equally dissaociating themselves by their actions?

Considering HIPPA, they're playing with fire on that sort of thing.
