This week, we had the CO visit in our kingdom hall. The greatest fun was: nobody could sing the new kingdom songs. They just were humming the song. What a trash songbook! The text is not in line with the music eh with the notes

LOL!
My favorites are the ones that change meter 1/2 way thru, then change back again 3/4 of the way thru.
My 2nd favorites are the ones where they changed just some of the words, but not all, and people who have been singing the same lyrics for 25 years get lost and mumble the rest of the stanza.
And they spring this stuff on people who couldn't tune a kazoo.

Do not knock the new song book, everything from the FDS is directed and inspired by holy spirit! :)

Some of these songs that have been meddled with have been going at least 60 years (!) - like the one 'Praising Earth's New King' (No. 99) that used to be based on Psalm 2. The lyrics had been tweaked a little with every new song book, but it was basically the same rip-roaring, motivational, go-get-'em-and-smite-them-in-thine-mercy kinda song - an old JW favorite. Now they've totally b******d it up - as they've also done with 'To Whom Do You Belong' and 'House to House' (the latter I never liked but still, like the former, it's been sung in KHs since the 1960s) and numerous others. The worst ones (as Sir82 said) are where they have a long-familiar melody for a few bars but have lobbed in a brand new melody for another few bars.
Why do I care? Because I like singing and the songs (depending on the song, of course) were often the only things that lifted an otherwise dull or irritating 2 hours.

I wonder how long it will be before no one even attempts to sing this sxxx at all. They make such wretched "music(??)" on purpose so they can impose the shame and guilt on the flock for not being able to master it, with an extra measure of guilt for not practicing it "enough". On top of that, they want the witlesses to remember the lyrics so they can worship the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger and become more inculcated in that idolatry.
Good thing I don't have to worry about listening to dying cats and cult chants. I would rather listen to gun shots and swearing, and Christmas music--if those sound like dying cats and/or cult chants, they don't sell.

Why do I care? Because I like singing
Then you are were one of the very few at the K H that cared a toss about the singing. Why ? because the Society themselves place no value on the quality of the singing whatsoever. The line that they are fond of using was that "Jehovah created the night jar as well as the songbird and they all sound as good to him" so no one ever tried to sing properly.. I have no voice either, but after singing K H songs for decades I learned absolutely nothing about music, breath control and singing technique.
They just don't care..
