I remember our quickbuild. Elders physically fought each other once & regularly had blazing rows. One elder told a brother who was taking the piss during the build that "if he didn't belt up he would kick his arse off the f***ing site". Lovely encouraging weekends of work so it was.
I love how they call it a 'quickbuild' as well. Before the 4 days completion weekend the work goes on weekend after weekend for months with only the failthful few bothering to show up to do the donkey work. These were the weekends where the fighting happended at our build.
All in all, our build nearly gave me a complete physical breakdown by the time it was completed (worked from January until June).

I certainly remember our quick build and the terrible attitude shown by so called brothers who came to visit and work on it over the weekend, I was out of there by lunchtime on the Saturday I could not take any more of it, the problem with these stupid Quickbuilds is that there is far too many unskilled workers vying for far too little work, I'll give an example just say brother A has a plank of wood and he has Sister B with a pencil then Brother C has a saw and the sister D is just standing there ready to take the plank of wood away to to the carpenter, now the whole process could have been carried out far more efficiently if the carpenter had done the whole thing by himself and very likely the wood was cut to the wrong size and the whole thing would have to have been done again, our quick Quickbuild had a construction company appointed to the contract which was a company called Greenfields who charged full normal rates in this sector, and after the completion there was such a lot of rectification that needed to be done (at a charge of course) because of the dreadful state of the workmanship, I knew a brother who worked in construction who lived in the UK who was from New Zealand and he was astonished that a commercial company made up of JW's was charging for this job, in his experience of construction he believes that he could have priced the build at a third cheaper then what Greenfields priced. Always used to make me laugh with silly sisters on the pull turning up at these events with full make up,painted nails,high heels in hard hats!

Retford is a lovely part of the UK on the North Notts/South Yorkshire and close to Sherwood Forest, been there a few times as a company my father worked for and then myself had a residential training school in a lovely old 18th Century house called Hogarth House, I was a Dub then but never made it to a meeting although my father made it to meetings and group studies when he attended the centre, probably does not exist any more the company me and my father worked for was swallowed up by a industry giant some years ago.
