Yeah for some reason that quote always sticks out in mind, sounds very haughty and selfish. (even if it was in reference to the GB it sounds very self centered).

oh absolutly.. just the concept that someone felt they "need to get to governing".. are we children? really thats the biggest flaw in the GB's mindset.. that they have to watch out for us, nanny us. instead of allowing us, as the scriptures state, to full grown in powers of understanding.

Yeah, I remember reading that in Crisis of Consience and I was thinking...soooo, it was always really all about having power. Thats what I always suspected. I'm reading in search of christian freedom right now, another eye opener (thanks brodan).

Yes, it's very revealing that the man who said this didn't object to the authoritarian nature of the governing body. He just wanted a piece of the cake. He knew he didn't like to be bossed around, so, he wanted to boss others around.

Yea, Joliette, I just finished about a month ago. I was afraid it was going be boring, lots of doctrine, and there was some, but I found it engaging. Ray shares some of his personal doctrine views, but in a non pushy type way. Overall it was a very good read.

ON the other hand, maybe they were wondering why they were being called a governing body if the president was doing the governing.

Pirata, that was the context exactly, but it was the overall point that they thought someone NEEDED them to govern...

Oh, and by the way, Grant Suiter is the one who said the quote. He was saying it because they wanted Nathan Knorr out as the Watchtower President.
