My curiousity is wakened by the reference to the other two letters that should be 'destroyed'. What sort of information, in a letter dated 16 and 19 years ago would keep the GB up nights wondering who might read it? Anyone know?

I agree with AK - Jeff, why after all these years do they want those very old letters destroyed? Obviously something which makes them look stupid.
The latest letter just seems over the top paranoia.
How about this line in the letter:
The information is designed for use by the elders only, and other individuals should not have any opportunity to read the information.
Makes me think something really juicy might be in there...They can't be that stupid can they? When are the books actually starting to hit the hands of the elders?
Don't read too much into the "this tape will self destruct in 10 seconds" tone of the letter. It's pretty much standard fare for this type of thing.

Exactly right - and the pathetic thing is that there is nothing in that information that actually needs to be secret, has any salacious value, or is in any way different to what people read every day in the other literature.
It is all just head games.
Thanks for posting. This really took me back..... back to when I was more than a drone, but was a lead drone.
It does sound like they keep the lead drones worried about the old book, about whether they prepared in advance, about stupid stuff so they can totally feel special and focused and miss the opportunity to reall examine what they will be told at this school.
Remember from the old book, the stuff in there is not so special. The notes in the margins they tell you to write, that stuff is their "Secret Society" gold. Keep them writing at a fast pace and tell them how the GB really meditated over this stuff and they will just write it down and treat it like gold.
As long as we are till laughing about how seriously ridiculous this is - how about those super-special lapel cards?

Wonder if anybody at WTBTS headquarters ever questioned if the early christians had secret books and secret lapel cards for the apostles that the ordinary christians could never see?
