Call for Papers: Psychological Manipulation, Cultic Groups, Social Dependencies, and Harm
The International Cultic Studies Association (ICSA) is conducting its 2011 Annual International Conference jointly with Atención e Investigación de Socioadicciones (AIS) of Barcelona, Spain and in collaboration with the University of Barcelona and Info-Cult/Info-Secte of Montreal, Canada.
The conference will be held in Barcelona, Spain from Thursday, July 7, 2011 through Saturday, July 9, 2011.
ICSA and AIS have been running conferences for more than 20 years.
Attendees and speakers at past conferences have been diverse, including academicians, helping professionals, former and current group members, families, clergy, educators, and others.
Individual presenters will have 30 or 45-minutes for paper delivery and discussion, depending upon whether we schedule two or three talks in a 90-minute time block. Panel organizers have 90 minutes for the panel. It is recommended that no more than four people speak on a panel.
The Conference Committee will consider papers and panel proposals in English, Spanish, or French in all areas of cultic studies.
The Committee will also consider proposals in related areas, such as terrorism, gangs, emotional dependence (in couples and others), familyviolence (including intimate partner violence, psychological abuse of children and elders, sexual abuse), psychological abuse at work (mobbing) and school (bullying), and social addiction.
Each participant, including speakers, will be expected both to pay his or her travel and accommodation expenses, and to register before being included in the final program. However, we do give speakers a discount in the registration fee. We have a limited number of registration fee scholarships available for financially needy former group members.
