The Conference Committee will consider papers and panel proposals in English, Spanish, or French in all areas of cultic studies.

The Committee will also consider proposals in related areas, such as terrorism, gangs, emotional dependence (in couples and others), familyviolence (including intimate partner violence, psychological abuse of children and elders, sexual abuse), psychological abuse at work (mobbing) and school (bullying), and social addiction.

Each participant, including speakers, will be expected both to pay his or her travel and accommodation expenses, and to register before being included in the final program. Upcoming International Conference: “Cultic Groups in Society: Prevention, Information, and Assistance”

The International Cultic Studies Association (ICSA), founded in 1979, in conjunction with Info-Cult/Info-Secte of Montreal, Osservatorio Nazionale Abusi Psicologici (ONAP) , Sects, Religions, and Spirituality (SRS), and SOS-Abusi Psicologici, will conduct a two-day conference in Rome from 14:00 Saturday, September 18th to 17:30 Sunday, September 19, 2010.

Experts from Italy, other European countries, and North America will present on a variety of subjects, including the causes, nature of, and responses to individual, family, and societal harms associated with participation in highly manipulative groups. Speaker List.

Two tracks with similar content will be conducted, one in Italian and one in Engish.

This conference should be of interest to all who are interested in the subject, but especially to families, former group members, mental health professionals, educators, and researchers. Socials on Saturday and Sunday nights will provide attendees with an opportunity to talk informally with each other and with experts who are speaking.

The conference will take place at Il Carmelo Institute, a short distance from Il Ciampino Airport and 100 meters from the Ciampino railway line into Rome’s Stazione Termini. Lodging and meal costs are low at the Institute, which is a lovely facility with clean, spacious sleeping rooms, a swimming pool, and other amenities.
