Out out damn spot (Defenders of the Borg)!

  Why oh why oh WHY are there defenders of the WTS posting and participating on an APOSTATE website?! Surely the borg, correct me if I am wrong, tells (us)you to STAY AWAY from anything apostate. To treat it with the disdain it deserves... So WHY?, I ask you, are you participating? Are you trying to "convert" us back? Counting the time? You seem to have forgotten that you are dealing with people who have been DEEPLY affected by the borg. People who have been abused sexually, mentally, lost their family, their fiends... lost most of their lives to an organisation that has now cast them aside. I have posted things on this board that got them flames a burning high! Now we have the Danni story and OH MY GOD has that rattled the cage! So what if Danni did what she did! If your precious society has nothing to hide, then what are you worried about? Surely the holy spirit would NEVER ALLOW that to happen... (Of course it managed to appoint a MS who was a homosexual and keep him in his post for many years until HE decided to leave). Apostates are just that... APOSTATES of the WTS... most people here, including myself, have freinds and family still in... we do not hate them, on average we do not hate JW's. What part of the term APOSTATE do you not understand? If you feel we are rambling and groping in the Dark for some form of "truth" then you are sadly mistaken. Most of us saw the "truth"... hence why we are OUT! If you want to defend the WTS then get your ARSES out of an Apostate web site and get a Law degree...GOD knows they are going to need you!

  I think there is room for people at all stages here. I know Simon started out on discussion boards, while he was still a witness, and defended his faith. I think its good that active witness post here, it gives them the chance to think freely about things, without any fear. And who knows, it may just change a few people's minds about the society.

  At one of the district conventions I attended within the last few years, one of the hotshot speakers (perhaps the new district overseer, but I can't recall) shot down cold all Law students in the audience.

  He said, "What reason could anyone possibly have for going to Law School?"

  Funny, huh, because I have a feeling my college roomate at the time, who was sitting next to me, was the ONLY one in the whole damn building!

  How thoughtless, huh? Sounds like a witchhunt to me.

  My old roomie desired to do major work for the 'Society', and he has served at Bethel. I hope they appreciate it. I have a feeling he was discouraged by more than that ignorant talk.

  I agree that there is room for people at all stages here. I am not saying go away to those who express themselves with genuine viewpoints and are open to discussion. I am talking about the ones that foam at the mouth about everything even remotely anti WTS AND show no desire to listen, think and respond sensibly. I am pleased if there are lurkers here, reading and asking some questions and sometimes even getting upset about something and in a logical way responding with a valid argument! BUT it is the fly off the handle ones that constantly provoke and make no sense in their arguments other than "That is what the WTS says". It's the ones trying to "out" those in the room who are not at the stage or in the position to "come out" or "be outed".

  You know, there's really only one person here who I always look for their posts because they're either bringing up a good point or are just plain hilarious. Once again, I'm with Britboy here and totally and completely look forward to reading more of your posts!

  Don't come down too hard on them. I for one enjoy reading the inane and insane posts of the active Witnesses. I like seeing their twisted and circular logic spread out before us. I like even more the posts correcting the inacuraccies that are there.

  I for one, hope the the active Witnesses keep coming here and trying to defend their faith. The more they come the more that they will start to have their eyes opened.

  I came here looking for JWs to associate with. I've only been here a couple of days. Some of the posts are very interesting and would like to read more.

  First, Britboy, I should say that I don't post here as a defender of the WTS. As far as I'm concerned it is a printing company and my faith would not change if it vanished tomorrow. But I am here as a guest of Simon ("everyone is welcome") to discuss things JW related and until such time that he suggests I have overstayed my welcome I will continue to enjoy the company of like-minded people here. As in other watering holes I visit there are those I could listen to all night and others I would not be seen dead with. Your exasperation that I will not recognise you as an apostate is quite amusing, but I personally think it rather shallow to put a label on people simply because they contribute to this board. Jesus said that out of the heart the mouth speaks and in a cyber-pub such as this that is surely the only foundation for making judgements (in the social rather than the judicial sense).

  I do think I have some things worth saying. But those who read my posts would be the better judge of that. I do not count time here or anywhere else (except music) as it muddles motivation. But apart from the human interest and mental gymnastics and desire for truth, I have gained something here it would be difficult to find elsewhere. A very frank and free discussion of the mistakes made by elders and parents in applying man-made rules under the conviction they were doing God's will. If that prevents me (or anyone) from making the same mistakes then surely that in itself would justify participation of anyone.

  I quite agree there are some really, seriously, irritating people here, both JW and otherwise, but perhaps if we are really, seriously, irritated that might say more about us than them [the really, seriously, irritating lot].

  I hope my repetition of "really, seriously, irritating" has not really, seriously, irritated you.
