John Wooden passed away at the age of 99 - he was a great coach and seemed like a true gentleman!

He retired way before I started watching sports, so I never saw him coach.

Now - if another John Wooden was born yesterday and lived to be 99, the end might come in 2110.

A great coach. However, one must wonder just how great he would have been without "Papa" Sam Gilbert. While Wooden may have been the "Wizard of Westwood" "Papa" Sam was the sugardaddy for all those "gutsy little Bruins."

Definitely one of the greatest coaches, but having the best players also helped him. (Alcindor (Jabbar), Walton, all the other all-americans) Great coach & human being who players & people loved and respected. One of his players, 1975 1st Team All-American David Meyers later went on to become a JW.
